Have a house down the shore which is not year round. Drain all pipes but this is the 2nd time that the valve on the Fridge has broken do to residual water in it. Also have a washer by Frigidaire Washer that also has a busted water valve this year. Have a 5 year warranty but they say it's not there problem. How can I prevent this from happening again? Thanks, Jim.

Disconnect the water supply where it goes into the valve. Disconnect both line coming out of the valve. Let the water drain as much as it will and try to blow through the valve to get all the water out you can. Hook the lines back up to keep it clean.
