Have been seeing grit in bottom of drinking glasses when using my kenmore refrigerator. Pulled fairly new filter out to replace and water would not stop running out of where filter was plugged into. I could go get new filter and replace but how do i know if problem is filter or something else. they are not cheap.

Kenny, If water continued to fill the filter housing when you removed the filter, the bypass mechanism in the filter housing is the issue, you need to consider a new filter housing, Part number: AP4369390
Did you have some plumbing work done recently, that could be an issue with the "grit" otherwise you'll need to remove and check the water reservoir in the fridge for a build up in the tank or replace the tank, Part number: AP3181346
Thanks and Good Luck, :) :) :)
