I replaced the motherboard about 6 months ago because the ice machine stop working, the water stopped dispensing and the coil had frozen. Replacing the motherboard got everything else working, but the coil still froze up and I have to manually defrost because it will stop getting cold.

I replaced the heater and it glowed initally, but never kicked in. Now it is six months later and I need to fix it. What should I do? Replace the thermostat? How do I test it?

The first thing I would check is the evaporator thermistor. You have to measure its resistance and the temperature at this time and then compare it to the values from the attached table. Post the results.
