I believe its a relay problem with Admiral refrigerator "system 2000" but I'm not sure. Everything thawed and the compressor kept trying to run but on ly lasted a few seconds. I banged the compressor a few times and it didn't make any difference until the next day and eventually is freezing again. I've tried to find the possible culprit on-line but not even the model number is recognized and I just know it will probably stop working again Christmas day.
Can anybody give me any assistance

There is a 50/50 chance between the start devise and the compressor itself. The worst thing is: without the valid model number is not possible to get any parts information.

I would pry out the start relay from the side of the compressor and replace with relay/overload combo P # RO41.
If this doesn't work, try a 3n1 hard start kit P# RCO410
Please post results.

if this model is a electronic 2000 I would say with all the problems this fridge had when introduced back in the late 80,s i could say it had one of the best sealed system in the market. I would say that there is a real good chance the compressor is getting bad. They never had problems with relays or overloads
