Refrigerator & Freezer Repair

My side by side is not cooling. The compressor does not run. The evaporator fan does not run. Where do I start?

Turn the fridge off and watch and listen to the compressor while someone turns it back on after several minutes. Do you hear a click as the compressor tries to start. Does the condenser fan near the compressor run. First thing to check is the overload/start relay. Refrigerator Repair Guide: How To Test the Compressor Relay - ACME HOW TO.com

Thanks for your advice. I removed the relay and capacitor. Seems to be a bit oily and some oil underneath. The capacitor terminals that plug into compressor are scorched and maybe even melted some? Does this mean that the compressor is no good also? Thanks. ---Vince
