Model Number: MTB2456GEW (Top Freezer) Brand: Maytag Age: 1 - 5 years
It appears my freezer fan is not working. I hold the light switch and fan doesn't go on.
Symptoms: - condenser is working, it's pretty cold - the port where air goes from freezer to fridge has icicles in the fridge - there is water collecting on the bottom of the fridge - stuff in the fridge is barely freezing/frozen - fan does not freely rotate when I tap it - I have fully defrosted the whole unit - little change (original symptom was complete freeze up of the port between freezer/fridge) Do I need to just replace the fan, or the control board, something else...? Thanks in advance!! Ads By Google Related Models |

Refrigerator Repair Guide: How To Fix a Refrigerator - ACME HOW TO.com IT FAILED, it was discontinuous (word?), no ohm reading Symptoms: - condenser is working, it's pretty coldCondenser is underneath around back. It should be warm. it was Evaporator coil is in the freezer should be cold. frosty. - the port where air goes from freezer to fridge has icicles in the fridge - there is water collecting on the bottom of the fridge[color="DarkOrange"][Your drain tube may be stopped up with ice at the upper end because it drains too slow because it's stopped up at the lower end in the evaporator pan under the unit at the floor. It can get dust and mold in it. Once you get the ice out at the top a little air pressure will usually clear it out. Flush it out with hot water and clorox may help. Make sure it drains quick enough. The drain should be located below the evaporator coils on the lower back of the freezerCOLOR] this was OK - stuff in the fridge FREEZER - oops is barely freezing/frozenIs this statement correct. the fridge side is freezing the fresh food - fan does not freely rotate when I tap it - I have fully defrosted the whole unit - little change (original symptom was complete freeze up of the port between freezer/fridge)May have a defrost problem.were the evaporator coils behind the back cover in the freezer covered in ice. this was OK Do I need to just replace the fan, or the control board, something else...? Thanks in advance!! If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat I will order a fan, as this appears to be at least 1 thing for sure wrong... thanks! |
