The fridge and freezer work o.k...but...a few times each day I hear a screeching sound as if a fan shaft is dry. How many fans are in this fridge and where are they.

See if you can pinpoint the sound by having someone turn the unit off to see if that's when it makes the noise and cutting it back on.
It could be coming from the compressor which is at the back at the bottom. There is also a condenser fan there. There is an evaporator fan behind the back cover inside the freezer.
