The refrig is not defrosting. I believe the heating coil is good. There is an OHMS reading. What part controls the heating coil. How can I test that?

If the heater is good check the defrost thermostat which is clamped to the evaporator coils. It should be closed when cold and open when warm. It those two are ok your problem is the defrost control. Part 13 in you control diagram. Replacement parts for MAYTAG MSD2758DRB | AppliancePartsPros.com
