Default defrost drain pan repeatedly overfilling
Model Number: GD2SHGXKQ01   Brand: Whirlpool   Age: 5 - 10 years

6 year old whirlpool side-by-side

had water on the floor tuesday. the defrost evaporater pan was overflowing. I checked all water connections and they show no signs of leaking. emptied the pan. this morning (friday) it was overflowing again. there is NO accumalation inside and the interior vents are NOT obstructed.

the temp in the freezer and fridge are fine.

the icemaker valve was replaced 10 months ago

any ideas?

thanks
jeff

You may be missing the back fiber panel, it routs the condenser fan air across the pan to evaporate the water.

I do not think this is missing, as I am the original purchaser and have not permanently removed anything. And I can't imagine 3-4 quarts of water evaporating in 3 days time. (I almost filled an entire pitcher the first time it overflowed)

any other ideas?

how are the door gaskets, how are the doors closing, sounds like a major air leak somewhere in the fridge.

Your defrost cannot melt that much frost, gotta be a water leak somewhere underneath the fridge, just shine a light under there and observe!
