Model Number: pds20sfsrss Brand: GE Age: 1 - 5 years
Hello,
I have a GE Profile fridge (fridge on top freezer drawer on bottom) that just got warm (fridge and freezer both warm) I also heard a humming or rattling noise. The noise seemed to be coming from the back of the freezer area. The compressor is running and warm. there was no water in pan underneath and fan was running. I banged the area where I heard the loud humming. I also unpluged the fridge for about ten minutes while looking it over. Either banging it or unplugging it made the noise go away. After about 5 hours the fridge and freezer got back to normal operating temperature. Then in the same night started climbing back up to high temperatures, but with no noise this time. So I pulled off the bottom panel again and noticed a lot of water in the pan that was bone dry earlier in the day. I blew through the drain tube with my mouth and it seemed free of any debris. . Any Ideas on what is going on here? any help would be greatly appreciated. Ads By Google Related Models |

The next time it fails, verify the evaporator fan in the freezer is running, if not, you have a bad fan motor. If ok, remove the back panel and verify compressor and condensing fan is running.
If either the condensing fan or the evaporator fan is not working, you will need to replace the failed item and the motherboard in the back of the fridge. part # AP4297272. The motherboard drive electronics for both fan motors will blow out if one of these items go bad. If you find the compressor is not running, you can pull off the motherboard and check for bad solder joints on the power relay in the middle of the board.
