Hi Brad,

Make sure the water tube into the ice maker is clear.

Locate the water inlet valve on the back of the refrigerator. Swap the wires between the two water valve solenoids. Depress the water dispenser lever for a few seconds and check if there is some water in the ice maker.

If there is no water, replace the water inlet valve.

If there is water, replace the ice maker.

- The water inlet valve Part number: AP5263471
Part number: AP5263471

- The ice maker Part number: AP4360346
Part number: AP4360346

The new ice maker comes without the head cover and shut off arm. So you have to use these parts from the old ice maker.

Thank you Gene! I'll try what you suggested and let you know how things turn out.

Best regards,

I have a Kenmore 106.53632300 with the same problem. Water dispenses fine but I have not had any ice made for several weeks. Doesn't seem to be any water in the ice maker. My model has an on/off switch rather than the lever. Am I correct in that I need to do the same thing that you suggested for Brad? Different part numbers to replace?

Thanks,
Linda White

Hi Linda,

Your refrigerator is different and tests are different too.

The first test is: Make sure the ice maker "on-off" switch on the right side is in "on" position. Open the freezer door, press in the emitter flapper door (on the left side) to unblock the optics beam and view the diagnostics "status" LED on the right side.

Post the results.

The switch is in the "on" position. The red light is flashing. When I close the flap door on the left side, the light goes steady red.

The next test is:

Remove the ice maker but do not disconnect the wire harness plug (the instructions are attached).

Remove the ice maker head cover.

Verify 120 VAC between the test points "L" & "N". Make sure the test probes go into the test points at least 1/2".

If the voltage reading is correct:

1. Using insulated piece of wire (14 ga) jump test points “T” to “H”.
2. Make sure the ice bin is on the door, the IDI slide is “on,” and both doors are
closed.
3. Unplug the unit, or turn off the power for 10 seconds, and then reapply power.
4. After 10 seconds, open and close the freezer door.
5. After 15 seconds, open the freezer door. The ice maker should be running.
6. Remove the jumper from test points “T” to “H”.

The water valve should be energized in the last half of the revolution.

Post the results.

Remove the ice maker wire harness from the ice maker and check the black wire for continuity. If there is no continuity, then the ice maker was overheated and has to be replaced.
