Yesterday my refrigerator temperature read 50 degrees and stayed that for a few hours before gradually lowering to 46 after 4 hours . I am not sure why. It was 90 degrees outside but that should not affect it. The refrigerator was not left open. Today it is down to 38 degrees.

What could have caused the temperature to be so high?

Check and clean the condenser coils under the fridge.

Check that the compressor fan runs.

Outside/ambient temp will effect the efficiency of the fridge.

I am not at the refrigerator now but the freezer is now too warm. The refrigerator came back to 38 degrees down from 50 yesterday. The freezer read 18 yesterday and still reads 18 today.

4 months ago the refrigerator was too cold. I paid GE to install a wr49x10091 AASM COVER FF INLET. I do have a warranty from GE on this part so is there a good chance that this might be the probelm again.

Did you do it?

The part you mentioned would not cause such problem in the freezer.

Gene.

I have been at work since getting the first reply so I have not yet done it. I was trying to see if the previous problem was related.

is there something in a sticky or another thread that tells me how to check if the compressor fan runs?

in addition, the refrigerator is very heavy. How do you recommend getting the coils under the fridge?

You will have to pull it away from the cabinets.

Remove the front kick plate and the rear access panel.

You will see the compressor fan so can tell if it is running.

Be careful not to ruin your floors. Running it on cardboard helps. My brother-in-law has a set of interlocking plastic tracks to run the wheels on seems to work OK.

I was not able to move it yet. I need to get my son to help me move the refrigerator so I have not done it yet.

We do have a lot of stuff in the freezer. Is it at all possible that if there is a lot in the freezer that this could cause the temperature problem.

The current temperature in the freezer is 25 degrees and the refrigerator is 40 degrees.

My son is suggesting that we have too much stuff in the freezer and we only need to move stuff out of the freezer and there will be no more problem.

If you are blocking the vents to the evaporator coils it could cause problems.
