I have a 10 year old GE side by side that stop freezing a few weeks ago. Last weekend, we had a technician come out and tell us that it was the motherboard. The refrigerator is defrosting properly and all fans are working. I replaced the motherboard today and the freezer is still not getting cold. I am very frustrated and am not sure if I should put anymore money into this unit. Any help would be so much appreciated!

Check the compressor in the back. If it is warm but not vibrating and the condenser coils are not warm, you may have a bad compressor start device. Let us know what you find.

Thanks for replying! I just pulled out the frig. and compressor is humming and is warm/hot to the touch. Where exactly are the condenser coils? Are these the same as the evaporator coils? Sorry for my ignorance, it's my first time working on a refrigerator! Since I put the new motherboard in, the freezer fan has not stopped running. Before I replaced the motherboard yesterday, the freezer fan would run unless you opened the door or it was in defrost mode. Thank you so much for your help!

If the compressor is running and the black coils under fridg or by the compressor are not very warm, you probably have a bad compressor.
