Default Freezer fine fridge to cold
Model Number: ed25rfxfw01   Brand: Frigidaire   Age: 5 - 10 years

Appliance Parts from AppliancePartPros.com
Just about everything in the fridge compartment of my side by side freezes up or ices up no matter what setting the thermostat is set at unless at zero. Any setting above zero and things just freeze up till I eventually set thermostat to zero. It just started doing this a couple of months ago.

Cold air enters the fridge through a damper or vent between the freezer and fridge. The evaporator fan in or behind the freezer blows the air through. There is an adjustment to open and close this vent to allow more or less cold air in. The fridge temp control may not be closing it.

ok, now the freezer has pretty much stopped working. It will get cold enough to freeze things but just hours later I go back and everything is starting to thaw.

Take the cover off the back inside of the freezer and see if the evaporator coil is ice up blocking the flow of air.
