The icemaker spikes attempt to move in order to activate the water valve and make ice, but they cannot. You can hear a sound coming from the motor unit of the ice maker. I suppose that I need to replace that module to fix the problem, but want to be sure there is nothing else it might be before I order a part. THANKS!!

That is nearly always the problem. It has plastic gears that can strip out.
