Hello, I apparently purchased someone elses trash off craigslist and I've been trying to fix it since. It "seemed" to work when I checked it out at the guy's house.. it had frost, the items inside (test items at my request) were frozen and the light for the lid worked.. I get it home, wait some hours before plugging it in, and it starts to frost.. everthing is great until some time later the frost was gone and I noticed that it was humming, clicking, off, compressor extremely hot.. repeat. After research, I replaced the relay (plugging the white, red and black wires in different combinations until It finally worked). Compressor kicks in, a little later frost has formed in the freezer.. I'm happy Until an hour or so later when the frost is gone, and the compressor is again very hot, yet still "buzzing" without the clicks or turning off. Just hot and no freeze in the freezer. I unplugged it, waited a few hours for it to cool and then tried again.. and it started to work again.. until it overheated. I'm now very frustrated, I'm staying up late hoping someone will answer this to ease my mind that I have the red wire where the white should be or something simple like that... I really don't want to hear bad compressor. Thanks Ads By Google Related Models Last edited by mikel33 : 04-21-2009 at 09:10 PM. |

It's normal for the compressor to be hot, I would check more into the temp control or the thermostat.

I've attended seminars where the experts show in big bold letters "MISWIRING IS MURDER" and when I saw in your post you tried different wiring combinations until it worked made me cringe... Sorry that you don't want to hear 'bad compressor' but it very well could be now... You could try replacing the relay again AND the overload this time but make sure wiring connections are correct before applying power...
