My Imperial upright commercial grade freezer stops freezing. It will resume freezing after allowing unit to cool down and restarting. Is there a thermal shutoff switch to protect the compressor? The unit is kept in the garage and temps have been extremely hot for a long time.

Yes, see Item 37 in Section 3.

Clean under the unit to be sure there is good air flow.
Clean the condenser coils.
Check the door seal just to be sure it is not running any longer than necessary.

If all else fails you may have to direct a small fan onto the compressor to try and cool it down some during hot weather.
