the unit is going warm unpredictably, can i assume that the defrost timer is going bad and needs to be repalced ? if not what parts need replacement

You have to find out what is causing the unit to warm up. If the evaporator is clogged solid with ice/frost then it is a defrost problem but either the adaptive defrost board or the defrost thermostat could go intermittent. The reason I think it is something intermittent is that if it is a defrost problem that is happening all the time you would need to manually defrost the unit to get it working properly again and you did not mention this. Another sign of a defrost problem is that the compressor runs all the time but the unit cannot reach set point. [COLOR="DarkRed"]if not what parts need replacement[/COLOR] Ypou have to do more troubleshooting. What is working and what is not? If the compressor is off does moving the temperature control start the compressor up? |
