My refrigerator, GE model GSL 25JFPD BS, started to make a whining noise whenever the freezer fan kick on. It started out occasional only, and now more than half of the time the noise is on.

I turned off the freezer for about 15 minutes and turn it back on and the noise go away. But it came back after a few hours and stay on constantly.

First check that it is the evaporator fan (in the freezer) and not the condenser fan (by the compressor) that is making the noise.
