I started having problems with the unit not cooling. The evap fan was not turning. I found a test procedure that said to test the connections where the fan plugs in. Red and white should have 13VDC and the yellow should be around 13VDC. They all tested normally. I ordered a new fan. I got the fan today and there is no thermistor connected to it. I installed the fan and it does not work. I retested the connections and there is still 13VDC there. Will it work with no thermistor? Is the thermistor normally open or closed at room temp? And if the old one tests okay can I wire it in to the new fans harness? Thanks for the help, my wife and I did not realize how much we would miss the fridge!

Retain the new motor and wire in the old thermistor. If you have 13 volts to the yellow wire, you have a bad motherboard AP4436216, wires should measure around 6 volts.

I wired it all together and put it back. Nothing happened so I started checking voltage. I checked the red and the yellow and I have 40 volts. I am guessing I have the bad mother board. I looked at the wiring diagram and according to it the condenser fan is fed from the same connecter as the evap fan, 13 VDC. and it is still running. Is that normal? Thanks for the info.

I believe the condensing fan motor is a permanent magnet dc motor. I threw a evaporator motor in my wood burner to burn the plastic off and found it is a 6 pole induction motor, must have a square wave or sine wave to run!
