When the ice maker is being filled too much water flows into the mold. I have to catch the overflow with a bowl and it is about an extra cupful of water.

Take the cover off the front of icemaker you should see test points. Take a short wire and make a jumper wire (skin a little off each end). Using the jumper wire jump from L to V this should turn the water on. Then after a few seconds pull the wire out the water should stop right away. If the water don’t stop right away the valve is bad. If the water stops right away repeat this 5-10 times and if the water stops every time the icemaker is bad. Icemaker Repair Guide

Be sure the jumper wire is insulated because the wire will be hot when you use it as a jumper. So be careful!!
