About six weeks ago I bought a used top/bottom refridgerator. It's working fine (everything is cooling properly) but last week it started to smell like acetone (a chemical smell, like nail polish remover). The smell is in both the fridge and the freezer but I can only smell it when I open the doors. When the fridge is shut I can't smell anything. I called a repair service and they came out and checked all the cooling components inside the unit and couldn't find anything wrong. The repair man said that since the smell is only inside the fridge he didn't need to pull it out and check the back and that since everything was working it was probably something stored in the fridge. I've since cleaned the whole thing and checked for rotting food (I know that lemons can sometimes smell like acetone) but the smell isn't getting any better. It's a chemical smell that isn't coming from food and I can't figure out what the problem is. I've seen online that a number of other people have had this issue but no one seems to know what's wrong. Any ideas?
