Over the weekend, the freezer door did not get shut for about 24 hours. All of the food defrosted and there was a lot of water from the food in the freezer. I removed all of the food, and as much of the water from the food as I could. I shut the door, and it sounded like there was ice in the fan. I was able to get the ice out of the fan. It has been 3 days since this, and the freezer will not stop running. It is cooling to around 0 F, but there seems to be no response if I adjust the temperature setting.

I clean the front coils last night. The light is going off when the door is closed. Is there an issue with excess water that froze when I shut the door or something else? Would it help to unplug it and let whatever ice that froze behind the back board by the fan melt?
