Ice maker makes Ice fine.
The dispenser freezes up solid will not dispense ice. The ice cubes
freeze together. Even crusher will not work. Vacation home used
couple of times a month. The flap seems to open and close OK
Unit is about 8 months old.

It sounds like warm air is leaking into the freezer secton; or the unit may be defrosting a little too long.
Look at your door seals. Look for any noticable gaps or damage (tears, etc.).
If possible, time the defrost cycle, to see how long it takes for the compressor to restart.
Let us know what you find.
