Have Whirlpool side by side with ice maker. A while back the ice maker was not working and I found ice jammed in the ice maker, after removing it worked fine for a while but now has quit working. It appeared that there was no water going into the ice maker so I replaced the water inlet valve and it still will not work. I checked the electrical plugs on the inlet valve and I am not getting any power on the ice maker side in the plug. Could this be a bad modular? Any help will be appreciated before spending more on further parts.

i am assuming that water is coming to the water valve, so the first thing i want you to do is to make sure that the tube that puts the water into the icemaker is not froze up. it is possible that it is frozen with ice. let me also tell you how to jump out the icemaker. pull the front off, and make you a jumper wire about 6 inches long, and just strip the wire back on each end, about a half inch, and then put 1 end in the hole marked m, and the other in the whole marked n, and if the icemaker head is good, it will take right off, if it does count till 12, and then take the wire out, and watch the icemaker, and see if when it stops you should have water in it. if the icemaker front gear does not turn when you put the jumper wire in replace the motor module. the part # is 8201515. tom

tried to jump out the ice maker as you suggested. No results, thus the motor module is probability bad? Did check out earlier testing points L & N and also jumper test points T & H and it showed they both had power.

I replaced the motor module and and appears to be turning the white dial but still not working. There is water in the ice maker. I jumped started the new module as you suggested that I try on the old one but with no results. I have replaced the inlet valve and this motor module and have over $100 in parts already, do you have any other suggestions or tests to check for problem?

Have you given it 24 hours? The only other thing I could think of is the sensor inside the body section of the icemaker is bad. Just so I understand you, you jumped it out, and it filled, and it has ice, and it is not dumping it. The other thing I am thinking of is the heater could be bad, and the icemaker can't dispence the ice. Tom ApplianceEducator.com

It appears there is water in tray but it is not making any ice. I have no ice and of course it is not dumping any ice since there is none.

Would I have to replace the entire ice making unit or can I just replace the sensor, where is the sensor located and would you know what the part number is? Appreciate all your help to date.

the thermostat can be replaced. the part # is 627985. this is usually the problem, when you can jump the icemaker out, and it works fine, but after that it won't make any ice. tom
