My water dispenser in my Kenmore stopped working suddenly. All other dispenser options work (light, lock, ice cubed and crushed). The ice maker is working fine. I read a few other posts here and followed instructions. I removed the kick plate, uncoupled the line and asked for water. Nope. I took a hair dryer to the water lines coiled in the back of the fridge. Nope. I placed my ear to the refrigerator and cannot hear anything when I depress the water lever. I haven't tried anything with the filter yet but could, I have a new one handy. Is it time to pry the dispenser face plate off from the bottom with a flat head screw driver? And if it is, what should I be looking for once I do?

Locate the water inlet valve on the back of the refrigerator. Remove the wires from the green solenoid terminals and check for continuity between these terminals. replace the water inlet valve if there is no continuity.

If the reading is correct, check for 120 VAC between these wires (to the solenoid) while the dispenser calls for water.

If the reading is correct, replace the water inlet valve.

If the reading is incorrect, remove the dispenser front cover and check the micro switch. If the switch is good, replace the push-button switch.

I have a friend coming over on Saturday with the proper tools to do the testing you have suggested. I have a question about the water valve. My ice maker works, if there was a problem with the water valve, would my refrigerator be able to make ice?
