Model Number: 501-65019 Brand: Kenmore Age: 1 - 5 years
Hello,
We have a kenmore fridge with the freezer at the bottom. Not sure on how to explain this - but the fridge door no longer shuts tight without some force. Before it used to have a 6" gap when teh door had some tension and then automatically shut tight with out effor. Our bottom door is okay. Is this the hingeds? Thanks for any insight Ads By Google Related Models |

Nothing comes up using the given model number.
A Kenmore/Sears model number is usually 3 digits, a period and then 8 digits. I think you are missing the first 3 digits. These digits designate who actually made the unit and my cross reference of these do not show a 501. Check the lower hinge on the door, many units us 2 plastic cam parts ( 1 on the door and 1 on the hinge) to close/hold the door closed perhaps one of these is broken.

Here's the manual I found online for my Fridge. I'm not sure what part is the cam if there is one for my model.

I also could not find any cams so it looks like they do not use them on this unit.
I did find a part they called a stopper (243) perhaps something is wrong with that. Also check the gasket/seal on the hinge side of the door. Sometimes they can grab and cause problems. A light coating of white lithium grease or vaseline usually fixes this. Other than the above I am afraid I am out of ideas.
