fridge section is freezing food

Model Number: MZD2667HEW Brand: Maytag Age: 5 - 10 years

The fresh food section freezes even at the lowest setting. this is a side by side fridge. The damper door is spring loaded and cam be manually operated. If the damper is the problem is there a way to check it. thanks
