I just replaced my maytag water filter with its usual PUR UKF8001. When I removed the old filter, one of the two holds was still spraying water. Have never had this happen before. Went ahead and put the new filter on and the flow is not near what it is supposed to be. It squirts hard for about 3 seconds and slows to a trickle. Obviously, it must be something with "the top hole" on the hookup. My question is............what are the possibilities here? It is definitely not the filter itself.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

can you put old one back in to confirm water flow is normal? filter connection sounds goofed up if it was leaking during change.
