Defrost heater is broken. Maytag discontinued the part (63001049) and I cannot find it anywhere (including e_bay). Is there a different defrost heater that would be compatible (similar size, resistance, current draw and operating voltage)? If I have to, I can wire a new defrost heater to work with the existing wiring in the refrigerator, but I just want to make sure I have enough heating, but not too much current that the defrost heater element gets destroyed too quickly. I am shocked there is no updated part number provided by the manufacturer. The manufacturer is Maytag by the way and I have talked to them on the phone about this with no resolution.

Measure the length and diameter of the old element, including the end pieces and tell us if it is iron, or glass.
