We recently replaced our motherboard due to surges during storms. Right before we replaced it we noticed that when we would use the express thaw drawer the fan never kicked on. When the time was up we would pull the meat out and it would still be frozen solid. So we replaced the motherboard thinking that had something to do with it as well but we were wrong. I am assuming it is the fan that went bad but wanted some extra opinions. Also if anyone could provide a tutorial on how to access this fan to replace.
Thanks in advanced, Adam

Thanks in advanced, Adam Adam, Here's the information you requested. It'll help you through the repair. "The following components must be removed in
the appropriate order to access the CustomCool assembly. Remove the 2 bottom freezer baskets. Remove the recessed Phillips-head screw that attaches the CustomCool inlet. Pull the inlet out of the freezer wall. Access the fresh food evaporator. Carefully lift and pull the fresh food evaporator forward. Slide the drain trough to the right and remove it from under the evaporator.
Note: When installing the drain trough, insure trough outlet is inserted into the drain funnel.
Remove the support from under the evaporator tubing. Remove the 3 Phillips-head screws that hold the CustomCool™ unit to the bottom of the refrigerator compartment. Move the unit to the right, then carefully pull the left side towards the front of the refrigerator. Place the unit vertically on its right side. Peel back the foam seal from the left side and the tape from the rear of the unit. Release the 3 tabs and remove the cover
The following components must be removed in the appropriate order to access the fresh food evaporator: Remove the CustomCool™ drawer, and necessary drawers and covers above the CustomCool drawer, to expose the evaporator cover.
Note: The water line coil cover is slotted. To remove it, slide the water line coil cover toward the door opening. Remove the water line coil cover and lay the water line assembly down on top of the CustomCool housing for better access to the fresh food evaporator fan cover. Pull out and remove the top insulation cover and the bottom tubing cover and styrofoam block inside. Remove the 3 Philips-head screws that hold the fresh food evaporator fan cover in place. Carefully pull the cover forward, then disconnect the fresh food evaporator fan and beverage center blower. Loosen the 2 Phillips-head screws that hold the fresh food evaporator in place. Carefully lift and pull the fresh food evaporator forward. Cut the tie strap that holds the thermistor thermal block in place. Remove the evaporator thermistor and block from the evaporator. "
Good Luck,
:) :) :)

Wow that seems like a lot to do just to gain access to a fan that I can see when I remove the express thaw drawer in the refrigerator. Are we talking about the same fan?

Are we talking about the same fan? Yes, we're discussing the same fan. You can see the fan, with the drawer out, but there are air tunnels and housings, etc. that you can't see behind the back wall. It sounds worse than it actually is, and it's do able, and it is involved. :) :) :)
