Default Possible defroster problems
Model Number: 795.75212.402   Brand: Kenmore   Age: 1 - 5 years

I am investigating a noise in the freezer of my refrigerator. Upon removing the panel at the inside back of my refrigerator I discovered a large amount of ice keeping the fan from turning. I removed the ice with a hair dryer, checked the fan for operation and reassembled the refrigerator. Things seemed to run well except the light for the control of the refrigerator goes out and the fan seem to not be operating. If I unplug the refrigerator from the outlet and plug it back in, everything seems to start working as normal. I am afraid that the defroster circuit might have a problem either with the heating element or with the refrigerator circuit board. Can you give me any idea as to what or where to check or test?

It could help a lot if you can post a picture of the control panel.

Gene.

These are pictures of the control unit complete and the refrigerator and freezer sides. The other photo is of the circuit board on the back of the refrigerator.

I could not find the service manual for your fridge and all test procedures are written there. Check behind the bottom cover, may be it's there.
If not, you can order it from Sears by the part number: 3840JL8097A

Let me know if you will find one.

Gene.

P.S. I have one service manual, but there are different controls layout.

I finally called the service repairman to troubleshoot my defroster problem. He read the code the fault code and told me that my problem was the deforster sensor. I told him not to repair the refrigerator, that I would order the part and do it myself at a saving of greater than $100.00 dollars. I will taking part of that savings and order the repair manual that Gene suggested. Thanks for the help.
