how do i check my compressor, starter,capacitor to see if they are good

You can check them with a meter using ohms.
To see if they are open use a high meter scale.
Also if they are shorted resistance, should increase as the capacitor charges.

In reality neither of the above is very reliable as you are not checking the capacitor at actual working voltage.
Often that is when the di-electric in the capacitor fails.
A capacitor checker is a fairly expensive testing device so it is a lot cheaper to just replace it and give it a try.

Note they are fairly reliable and it is not common for them to go but then again it is not unheard of.
