So far I have replaced the light bulb and the door switch. I pulled the socket out and the socket itself looks fine as do the connections to the socket. The wirers connected to the door switch also look fine. I have tested the light bulb in another lamp and it too works fine.

What’s my next step?

Take a close look at the socket perhaps the center connector at the bottom of the socket is too low.
Unplug the refridgerator and try to bend that connection up.
Also check the side connections.
Be very careful as they break easily.
Note: I am not sure that the above applies to this socket.

If this does nothing or is not possible.
You will have to measure the voltage across the socket to see if it is getting 120 volts with the door open,.
Be very careful as you do not want to cause a short.

If you have 120 then replace the socket.

If you do not have 120 then unplug the unit and check the door switch and the wiring for continuity with a meter.

Am definitely not a genius but it is nice to know I do not have my head up my you know what today.

I know this is old, but I just had to chime in here. This thread came up when I searched google for a fix to my fridge. Same model and problem as the OP and I gave this a try. It worked! I can't believe it was such a simple fix.
