Hello-

My Kenmore side by side fridge/ freezer dispenser has never worked. Now the water tap is leaking steadily. I would just turn off the water and buy some ice cube trays but the water line is connected to the dishwasher and I don't want to have to turn the water on and off to run the dishwasher. Is there an easy way to plug the water line?

I am looking into changing the valve and have the cover to the dispenser off but can't get to the valve, any suggestions? Do I have to remove the inside freezer panel or just pry off the plastic housing from the outside?

Thanks,

Bill

well first thing is the water line to the refrigerator is the same one to dishwasher? the dishwasher must be connected to the hot water , and refer to the cold.

the water valve is not located in the dispensor area. it is behind the frig. it is a dual solenoid valve , one half for ice and the other for water.

Thank you for responding, I may be wrong that the washer and fridge have the same water line. I am going to take the back of the fridge off and test the valve. Is there anything I should know about taking the back of the fridge off?
