Refrigerator & Freezer Repair

My frige has gone warm on both sides, freezer and frige. The fan runs and the condenser is warm to the touch basically it seems to be running a lot but does not cool off at all. What are a number of corrective actions?

If you are out of freon then it's not something you can remedy. Can you tell if the compresser is working? Does it hum or make any noise at all?
