Hi
I have an Amana bottom freezer refrigerator, Model BR18V1E purchased in 2002. Upon opening it, the refrigerator section is not very cold and I didn't hear fans blowing. I opened the freezer and my ice has melted, no coldness at all. The light does go on when the doors are open. I tried different outlets, tried the breakers, I don't feel it's an electrical issue. It's like the fridge is totally dead otherwise and hopefully I don't lose all my food!

I'm not familiar at all with refrigerators, so hoping for help in simple terms. Thanks much!

I have to edit my above post. Now that I unplugged the fridge and replugged it in a few times, both fridge and freezer fans are blowing. Both blow very lightly, neither are cold at all. The lights still go on when opening both doors.

Here are your parts

OK both fans work so you are now in a cooling mode and not defrost (which may have been why they were not working before.

Check to see if the compressor is running. You can usually hear it and you should be able to feel it vibrating and it should be warm.

Here are a couple good site with basic fridge info.

Thanks! I had my handyman friend stop by and he went right to the compressor as you suggested. He said everything else looked beautfiul except he got "nothing" from the compressor. After quoting the parts and labor, looks like I'm buying a new one. :( I appreciate your links and help. They were great.
