Default Ice dispenser is inop
Model Number: ED25TEXHW03   Brand: Whirlpool   Age: 5 - 10 years

The icemaker makes ice...no problem. About a year ago, the dipenser quit working. Recently while cleaning the inside of the freezer door, I noticed
some small blisters on the plastic. I don't believe these were caused by the
manufacturing process, but possibly by heat generated by a short. Anyway,
it's hot & humid in the Carolinas this time of year and ice through the door
beats ice on the floor. It's about time to get this fixed and any help or
suggestions would be appreciated..............Thanx......j

Dear jodava,

There are several things it may be. Click for - breakdown

It could the door/light switch for the freezer. It has three wires on the switch. One is the common line and the other two are for the light and auger kill switch. You can check continuity on the contacts. There should be continuity between the NC and COMM contacts and opposite when the button is pressed. You should have no continuity between the NO and COMM contacts when the button is not pressed.

It may also be the switch in the dispenser that allows power through to the motor. That also can be checked for continuity.

You might also check the mechanical function in the door. To check it mechanically and the dispenser switch you will have to pull the front face off.

So you might check the door switch first.
