Default Warm Refrigerator and Freezer
Model Number: ARB2217CB   Brand: Amana   Age: 1 - 5 years

The bottom freezer on my five year old Amana constantly gets a frost and ice build-up on the back wall of the freezer which seems to lead to the refrigerator warming and then followed by the freezer warming. If you melt the frost and ice off of the back wall and exposed coils near the bootom of the freezer, the unit will work fine for a few days then it gets frost and ice build-up and goes through the same cycle all over again.

Is this a defrost thermostat issue and if so, is it a big deal to replace? Where is it located? Or am I on the wrong track all together?

I just had something else fixed on this unit about 3 months ago and I am getting ready to throw it in the garbage and buy a new one as appliance repair tech's are getting more expensive all the time. You get to a point where it's not worth dumping money into it anymore. Is there an on-line Amana repair manual that the general public can access for step-by-step repair information? I can't believe how much trouble new appliances are anymore.

Please advise.
