I have a GE side by side and the door flapper was broken so I ordered and installed a new one. The flapper I would assume is suppose to sit flush with the part of the fridge it attaches to but a it is now it still has about a 3" gap that cold are can come out of through the ice chute. what do I need to do to stop the frost that builds up in my freezer?

Remove the dispenser cover (the instructions are attached) and double check the installation of the door.

And you're sure you installed it properly.

Yes, the ice chute flapper door should fit tightly and seal against the dispenser housing ceiling.

You'll need to check the linkage, spring and solenoid,

For operation and proper alignment. I'm thinking, when the flapper broke, something got knocked out of position or out of alignment.
