Kenmore Coldspot Upright Freezer
Model Number: 8254981 Brand: Kenmore Age: More than 10 years
Compressor runs for 4-5 seconds, then shuts off. Then you can unplug it, to cool down for about 30-60 seconds, plug it back in and it does it again. Runs for 4-5 seconds then shuts off.

You probably have a bad compressor, damaged run winding, or internal mechanical problems. You could verify the compressor is getting 115 volts to confirm.
