I have a Hotpoint HTS15BBMRWW Top Freezer/Refrigerator 14.6 Cu. Ft. Capacity.
In the last few weeks the contents of the freezer are covered with frost and after 2-3 days a noise emits from the freezer. When I press on the center cover @ the back of the freezer it suppresses the noise until I take pressure off.
I have the main control set @ 5 and the ref/freezer is good and cold (items in freezer frozen).
I turn the control to 0 stopping the noise for about 3-4 hours than put it back up to 5 and everything starts up again without the loud freezer noise.
I spoke to someone that said it might be the fan in the freezer?? Is this a simple thing to replace? after reading some of the posts on this site there is reference to a thermostat, motherboard and other items that should be replaced. I also looked @ the schematic and parts and see a ac/dc fan & a cond fan???? Are there 2 fans in this small unit?
I just wanted to try to save the unit before it gets ruined and keep the expense down to a minimum.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

You may have two problems. Check between the freezer door seal and the fridge body using a dollar bill to make sure it is sealing correctly. The moisture condensing on the outside of your food is coming from somewhere. It is normal if you open the freezer often or make a lot of ice cubes.

Remove the rear cover in the freezer, if the evaporator coils are heavily iced up then you have a defrost problem. See "section 2" in the above parts.
Will be either the defrost timer (648), defrost heater (618) or defrost thermostat (620 but not shown on the illustration, it will be clipped onto the coils)

The defrost timer is under the cover on the ceiling of the fresh food section. Should be a hole in the cover so you can force the unit into a defrost cycle to see if the heater comes on.

Rechecked the model it is HTS15BBMFRWW on inside ref. I put a dollar bill in the door seal and was able to pull it out without much resistance? It did hold in place until I pulled it.
I don't use the ice trays at all will probably just remove them as well as the bottle of frozen water @ the right side back (it's placed there for storm season & power outages to retain cold).
I will check as you suggested.

Sounds like your seal is OK.
Often you will see frost on the freezer liner where/if it is leaking air.

Does have door seal check info.
Also check that the seal on the hinge side is not grabbing when it closes.
A common trick to ensure it slides and does not bind it to rub a light coat of vaseline onto the hinge side frame.

The frozen bottle of water in the unit would not cause frosting as long as it is sealed. Since it sounds like power outages are common in your area, I would leave it in.
