Model Number: gss22ifphww Brand: GE Age: 5 - 10 years
Defrost cycle is controlled by the mother board. How do i start the defrost cycle to see if the defrost heater is working.

When the compressor is running, remove the back motherboard cover, then unplug the fridg and remove the bottom 3 pin power connector. Locate the connector mating pins on the motherboard labeled def. and line. Put a wire jumper between these pins on the connector, plug in fridg, then check for defrost action. If no defrost, most probable problem is the defrost heater.
