Only cools a little

Model Number: ET18GKX Brand: Whirlpool Age: More than 10 years

The freezer thawed out (about 50 degrees) The refrig only cooled to about 50 degrees. Fan and compressor runs. Service person told me compressor weak or motor getting hot and shutting down. About 24 hours later it started working and has worked now for about 48 hours. Should I go ahead and replace it or just wait and see what happens?

I assume both condenser and evaporator fans are running now. I would measure the freezer and fridg. temperatures and post.
