I have a whirlpool gold side by side refrigerator/freezer. This model has the soft paddles. Just recently when going for ice I was denied ice. Everything sounds normal. Motor turns on, you can hear the ice crushing up, but no ice comes out. I removed the ice bin inside and saw there was a back up of ice down the shute. I removed the ice and tried again and still nothen. So removed the ice bin again and removed the ice. I took a screw driver and pushed on the dispense door and it moved, but had some resistance. Which is understand able as to keep a air tight seal. I am assuming the ice door motor is bad, but was wondering how to remove the face plate and change the motor. I see this part is about 20 bucks. I just wanna know if any other items would be recommended to fix once i have the unit apart as to avoid another weekend project.
