What part of the refig. cycles on and off during the day that you can hear when it does it? The other day I noticed when it would come on, it was making a strange sound. Now it doesn't come on anymore and it's not getting cold.

I can hear the refig. running still. Just not the part that would cycle on and off.

The part that cycles off and on during the day, is the Compressor,

Part number: AP3179961

But you may want to check for 120 VAC at the compressor or replace the starting device, if the compressor does not attempt to start,

Thank you so much......I decided to try and replace the Start Device first. I have to say this. My local appliance parts store had the part in stock, but their cost was WAY more expenisive. By ordering through Applicance Parts Pro I saved $24.95. The part was ordered to late for a Monday shipping, so it was shipped on Tues. and I received it on my door step on Wed.

Now I don't know a thing about refigerator electronics. When I opened the box. I found the instructions very easy to understand. I uninstalled the old part and installed the new part. This only took me a total of 30 mins from opening the delivered box reading the instructions, to installing it.

I plugged the frig back in. To my sweet ears the compressor started with no noise and it starting cooling. Within 2 hours I had ice...

I am so happy, yet sad. My husband was ready to buy me a new and bigger frig., but this one was only 6 years old and had lots of good years left on it.

Fixing it myself gave me lots of pride. I couldn't wait for my husband to get home from work so he could see I fixed it. It's a girl thing!

I can't wait for the next appliance to need me. As for the frig. When we remodel our kitchen. Then I'll get that new frig.
