I've had this fridge for 4 years now without issue. For no appearent reason, the icemaker quit. I have been reading many forums trying to trouble shoot this but not getting anywhere. I have read here some good info in the forums here, but didnt find the same events I have. i hope someone can give me a more positive answer as to what part is defective/ broken.

This is what I'm seeing:
-Icemaker had partial made ice in tray when it stopped.
-Prongs that push ice out are pointed upwards out of tray
-used thin flexable wire to check water fill line for ice blockage, no blockage I could see/ detect
-Sensor in door on right side is set to 'on'
-sensor on right blinks twice then stops, and repeats
-closing sensor flap on left side, sensor on right still blinks twice, stops, repeats
-when also pushing the door sensor button up (the white plastic button in the middle top of fridge), which shuts off fridge light, the icemaker sensor turns off (does not light or blink)

Okay, so what gives here? It's driving me crazy and not sure what to replace. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry if this was already explained in another post, but I could not find the same instances and an answer.

David,

Thanks for the model number,

Have you recently replaced the filter, and does the water dispenser work properly ?

Before we replace the inlet valve, try this:

Open the freezer door and make sure the switch on the panel (right side wall) is in the ON position, and observe the LED light. Is the light blinking, on solid or no light.

If the light is not lit or flashing, you have a bad sensor or the icemaker is stuck in a harvest mode

Then press the flapper on the left side of the opening and observe the light,
if the light continues to blink, you have a faulty sensor system. If the light stays on solid, your optic sensor is OK.

If the test to the sensor system checks OK, replace the fill valve, first

IT IS ALIVE! Yes, it appears the optical sensor was to blame. My replacement is installed and I am now producing ice! Whoo hoo!

Thanks AP Pros for the help.
