My freezer seems to freeze everything, then it thaws everything and refreezes it. I've lost a substantial amount of food. I've noticed my ice cream although hard, looks like it was melted then refreezed. I had a bag of shrimp which although it was still somewhat cold (not frozen), the bag blew up like it was spoiled once before. There is a frost pattern on the coils and the compressor/and freezer itself seems to be running when I check on it. What could be causing the freezing/refreezing problem?

Could find no info on the unit using the given Model Number.

Could be that the defrost thermostat is not working, contacts welded together.
Normally the defrost timer starts a defrost cycle, when all the ice is off the evaporator coils the defrost thermostat opens and shuts off the defrost element. Note the timer is still in a defrost cycle for some time.

If the defrost thermostat does not open there will be a heat build up in the freezer.

Remove it from the freezer and check it, should be open at room temperature.
Note: be gentle with it sometimes just a bump will open the contacts.
