My Whirlpool Refrigerator quit cooling one day. Only the lights in the refrigerator were working. So, I checked the compressor and fans and neither were on. So, after reading a forum on this website, I checked the thermostat. Sure enough the thermostat had failed. So, I replaced the thermostat and it began to work again. I could hear the compressor come on and the fans working. But, several hours later, it triggered a circuit breaker. I flipped the breaker and the refrigerator was again not working as far as the compressor and fan. I opened up the door and looked at the thermostat control panel it was making some clicking sounds. So, it was obvious that the thermostat had failed again. What is causing the thermostat to fail? Any ideas of what I can check?
