Stand-a-lone ice maker in failure mode.
Model Number: model 89582 Brand:
Less than 1 year
My stand-a-lone ice maker goes in to fault mode after making a slab of ice and attempting to cut the slab. It goes in to fault mode after staying in harvest mode for more than 16 minutes. I do not get a thermistor error on either the bin or evaporator when running the in clean mode (pretest before entering clean mode). I've unplugged each thermistor and ran the clean mode and the diagnostics recognized that they were removed.
The ice making process looks like it is correct in the fact that the ice looks to be normal size and it is released and slides down on to the cutting grid. The grid only cuts about half way before the 16 min. harvest interval is up and the fault is detected. I've removed the grid and the wire is intact. Resistance is 5 ohms and the voltage across the terminals is about 9.5 volts. You can feel some heat coming off of the grid before the ice slides on to it. It is not a lot of heat as you can place your hand on it. The controls are new, so I do not suspect the controls are the problem. What other elements are in the harvest cycle that could be causing this problem?
Bad thermistor, cutting grid, or transformer?
